a new cultural lens with its newly launched Van Gogh Roulins Family Experience – a inspired
stay created in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum, alongside the new exhibition Van Gogh
and the Roulins, Together Again at Last, on view until 11 January 2026. This imaginative package
transforms the hotel into a welcoming base for exploration, play, and family togetherness. Guests
can hop on the hotel’s bicycles to explore the city, set sail on a private boat directly to the museum,
or return to spacious family suites designed with multiple generations in mind.

Greetings From Little Marie
From the moment of arrival, children are greeted with thoughtful touches designed to make them
feel like cherished travellers in their own right. Leading their journey is Little Marie, the hotel’s new
mascot and cheerful guide for young guests. A charming lobster from the Amstel River, she has
made De L’Europe her home after years of exploring Amsterdam’s canals and collecting stories
to share. Alongside her friends – Bernie the octopus, Hannah the heron, Okidoki the starfish, and
François the seahorse – she helps little explorers uncover the magic of the city through
imagination and play

Inspired by Little Marie’s world of imagination, the hotel curates thoughtful details for its youngest
guests. Age-specific amenities include plush Little Marie toys, chocolate-filled storybooks, and
miniature bathrobes and slippers – touches that bring her playful spirit to life. When evening falls,
in-room tipi tents become cosy dens for bedtime adventures, while turndown treats and
personalised itineraries curated by the concierge ensure every day is tailored to the family’s
rhythm.

A Journey of Art, Imagination, and Hidden Treasures
The cultural centrepiece of the stay is a visit to the Van Gogh Museum, where young guests are
invited to explore the new exhibition Van Gogh and the Roulins, Together Again at Last. Designed
with families in mind, the exhibition offers a rich variety of creative and educational activities —
from hands-on portrait drawing and scavenger hunts to puzzles, colouring, and a playful photo
wall inspired by the Roulin family. The immersive top floor of the exhibition brings Van Gogh’s
Arles to life, inviting children and parents alike to step into the world where some of his most
heartfelt portraits were created.

Exploration beyond the museum is equally engaging. A family-friendly guided tour of Amsterdam
incorporates treasure-hunt elements, brought to life by Little Marie and her friends with playful
surprises throughout. Together, they encourage young explorers to uncover the city’s rich
heritage and hidden corners, from world-famous museums to secret courtyards that most visitors
never see. Along the way, families are invited to pause for sweet moments — tasting stroopwafels,
poffertjes, and other Dutch delights that Little Marie herself adores.

Guests are also free to explore at their own pace, with De L’Europe’s central location offering
effortless access to every corner of the city. Days unfold in true Amsterdam fashion — cycling
along the canals, gliding past historic landmarks on a private boat, or pausing beneath the trees
of a leafy park. Wherever the journey leads, Little Marie ensures it’s filled with wonder, laughter,
and discovery, making each moment an adventure to remember

The experience concludes with keepsakes that capture the spirit of the stay. Each child receives
a personalised copy of ‘Little Marie Welcomes You to De L’Europe Amsterdam’, along with
stationery and postcards illustrated with exclusive Little Marie x Van Gogh designs. These can be
posted to loved ones via the hotel’s vintage-style mailbox – complete with stamps – transforming
